I tried to reply to this via my ISP's webmail feature but I was told
that I wasn't subscribed to the list!

Was the ability actually discontinued, or did Apple simply remove the
power key from the keyboard?
I'd not be the least bit surprised if you plugged in a keyboard with a
power key, that it powers on even the latest Mac models (I'd also not be
surprised if it doesn't).
No they won't. I plugged my Apple USB keyboard with a power on/off
button into my G4 iMac and the button does not work. Apple removed
some of the circuitry in the iMacs that allowed power on/off via usb
keyboards
a keyboard with a power key will boot my G3 DV400.
This is the type of info I am looking for; thanks, Kari
I use a griffin
i-mate adapter with my original 6205 unperforma keyboard.
Hmm, I haven't tried my Apple Adjustable ADB keyboard and th iMate.
I'll first try it on the Rev B G3 iMac and then on the Rev A G4 iMac.
