A friend of mine got his hands on a slot loading iMac, and a whiel back I suggested he get a wireless router rather than try to find a reasonably priced airport card. Here is his situation below, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Brian:

A friend gave us an old lime green iMac, a 400 Mhz G3. It's only capable of OS 9 at the moment--64 MB RAM, I think 9 or 10 GB HD. I don't know if I would want to upgrade it to put OS X on it, or just trade it in towards a much more capable mini.

But for the time being, I want to try to get it onto the wireless network with the solution you suggested--buying another wireless router and running an ethernet cable to the iMac. We'll see whether Kim can do at lease some of what she wants to do on it.

So, any suggestions for how to go about this? OS 9 networking is fading from my memory. I suppose any $25 wireless router with ethernet ports would do fine; not sure how to make it pick up the signal from my main router on the cable modem.

Would love any advice you could give.

Thanks,

Bob
