I've started downloading iTunes 5 and got the message "Please quit iTunes before beginning this update".

My daughter has quit iTunes as requested but I can't get rid of the message - every time I click on OK it comes straight back.

Yes, first update & install Quicktime 7.0.2.

Then quit everything. You must have a program that works with Itunes that might be in the menubar. You need to quit that as well.

Then it should work. If it doesn't then you still have something running. Go into Terminal, type ps and look for a process that has itunes in it. you must quit that before it will work.
