What size is that partition?

The bondi (and some others) can't boot from a partition larger than 8 GB, 
and that partition MUST be the first partition on the drive.

If your partition is larger than 8 GB or is not entirely within the first 
8 GB of the drive, then it isn't going to boot from that drive. 
Repartition, and make the first partition 7.5 GB to be sure you stay 
within the limits. Then make the rest of the drive a 2nd partition. 
Reinstall the OS onto that 7.5 GB partition, and you *should* be good to 
go.
