To respond to your questions thus far: 1. I haven't tried replacing the PRAM battery in the iMac yet. Might replacing the PRAM battery really have much chance of repairing my problem? I tried replacing the PRAM battery in my PowerMac G3 (beige) while attempting to get an OS X 10.2 install disk to boot, with no luck.
2. I tried the DV with a monitor which was once used with a Supermac clone. The power light never changed from amber to green, telling me that no power was getting to it. I'll be trying the iMac with an old NEC MultiSync monitor a bit later on tonight, to see if it acts any differently. One thing I noticed was, while trying to boot from a CD with the Supermac's monitor attached, trying to eject the CD by holding down the mouse button (which typically works) was causing the computer to power down. A further question: might this possibly be due to OS X having been installed on it without updating the firmware? I've heard about that causing blank screen issues, but with the HD making noises, I'm not sure. Also: one thing I noticed when trying numerous key commands was some mild flickering of the LED behind the power button. Might this indicate power supply issues? Once again, thanks in advance. -Adam -- Adam Vaughn Collector of old computers, video game systems, radios and other electronic equipment...
