Sympatico dot ca is the provinces of Ontario Quebec and portions of Nunavet. And as Sympatico is part of the Bell Canada company, for local telephone service you're sort of scuppered. However the alternatives can be: cable or satellite. It depends where you live as well. My ISP is in Hamilton Ontario uses tall towers to link with a central office and small dishes on client's homes and businesses. They also similar service using my (yes Bell supplied) telephone line. In my own case I use a separate back line for my computer work. Even here where I live there are places either cable or high-speed using a phone line don't work. For high-speed telephone line you have to be within five kilometres of a switching station. If you're in a rural area where neither cable or high-speed is available you could be in trouble. Sympatico then is a monopoly in that case. BTW my own ISP use trytel dot com out of Ottawa as their high speed server company. Trytel is located in many places in Ontario, drop them a note to see which ISP's use their service. And good luck!
