I received an email from Apple a couple of months back telling me all
about this extended warrantee program for their first generation G5
iMac--the 17 and 20 inch models. Mine had been running perfectly
since I bought it and even though the model number fell within the
range that Apple listed, I said to myself, "It won't affect me."
Well, last night I was removing a few programs that I hadn't been
using and thought it would be a good idea to reboot just to set
everything just perfect. So, I clicked Apple menu restart and then
got the start up chime and the screen brightened up a bit but no grey
screen with the Apple on it. So I guess mine falls into the video
problem area. Do you all think I'm right? I'm going to call Apple a
bit later on and then schlep it down to my local Apple store for
hopefully covered repairs under their extended warrantee program. If
that is not the case, I'm just going get the 2 gig 20 inch iMac (the
problem has been fixed with them...) and switch out the hard drive
and RAM.
Wish me luck,
Tim
Exterminate all rational though.
