Consider yourself lucky... You do not have Comcast. The current
Comcast is actually a company that is mostly TCI (about 57%) and the
minority is what used to be the real Comcast (about 43%). Back in the
90's TCI (what is now Comcast) was committing fraud against the local
franchise authorities here in North-East Texas by falsifying telephone
answering statistics. Time Warner is moving in to take over the
systems in this area from Comcast... I hope that they will fire the
crooks that should have been fired in the 90's.
Over time companies will provide more competition to cable and the
phone company. In some areas companies are installing fiber to the
home or "FTTH". FTTH should be faster than either Cable or telco xDSL.
