1. Never done that, though I ran the Applejack utility Lieven suggested
(which repairs them, <http://applejack.sourceforge.net/>) and things are
still sluggy with Safari.


2. Every time after I print, (have an HP multifunction) something gets the
CPU fans going.  The Activity Monitor utility reports HP Communications
using as much as 80% of the CPU.  Usually I wind up killing the process,
and the fans immediately wind down.

I never run any huge print jobs, in fact right now I just printed a simple
half-page document from Appleworks.  To see if it would go away on its
own, I've left it going for the past ten minutes, but it isn't showing any
sign of doing do (in fact, %CPU seems to have crawled up a percentage or
two.)


3. New G5 iMac.  Feels like I'm using a decade old machine all over again. ;)


...still bouncing around in the 70%-80% range.  I'm killing it.
