Hello,

I've run into a bit of a problem and am hoping for some suggestions.

I recently installed, as an experiment, Tiger on my 233Mhz Bondi iMac (Rev
A.) The only upgrades I had done on this unit are RAM (320Mb) and a new
hard drive. (The Tiger install was done by moving the HD to another machine
with a DVD Drive.) I have used, thus far, a total of 7 Gigs on the 100 Gb
HD.

Since then, I've been working in both OS 9.2.1 and Tiger without a hitch.
Until today, that is, when I installed the 10.4.3 update. Upon restarting
in OS X I got nothing but the white screen with a gray apple, no other
activity. The restart button was no help. I restarted using an OS 9
install disk and, using the startup disk control panel changed the startup
system to OS 9.2.1. After restarting I got nothing but a flashing question
mark. So I once again started up using the CD and trashed the system
preferences file. This worked, and I am now able to boot into 9.2.1.
However I still cannot boot into OS X. I tried to repair permissions using
a Tiger install disk. It went through the process, but did not log any
repairs. A restart yielded the same white screen. I trashed several
preference files but that has not helped (and, to be honest, I wasn't quite
sure which ones to trash.) I did notice that there were quite a number of
files listed as modified at 5PM today, several hours AFTER I did the update,
so I reset the date to tomorrow to see if that would help but it did not.

I'm about to give up on this so would appreciate any suggestions before I
throw in the towel.

Thanks!
-Michael
