My presumption is that the implications of connecting to the USB 1.0 port on our iMac is simply slower data transfer - something I already see and am used to with our CD writer. Can anyone confirm this for me?
Yes, transferring several gigabytes of data over USB 1.1 at 12 mbps could be an all night affair, but it will work. Your iMac also has no firewire, correct? If it did happen to have Firewire, you could grab a 4G iPod or earlier to have a speedy Firewire interface at 400 mbps.
