The mac doesn't connect to the PC. The mac connects to the wireless router.
The PC connects to the wireless router. The wireless router assigns IP
addresses to the mac and the PC--the mac and PC exchange packets through the
router if you want to share files or other resources between the machines.

The setup I have in one room is a blue and white G3 and a mac mini, neither of
which have wireless cards. So I bought a simple 4 port switch and an airport
express. I already had an airport express in my family room hooked up to the
cable modem. I plug the extra airport express into the switch and the mac mini
and blue and white into the switch, and the airport express provides service to
the two machines. And I have a couple of extra ports on the switch--for a
while I had an old NeXT machine in there too.
