I run Tiger from an attached hardrive.

here's what the report says- anybody have an idea?

Bob,

You didn't provide all the details of your iMac's setup, but if I read
the information you did provide correctly, you have both a CD/RW and
an external hard drive connected to your iMac DV via firewire. Also,
apparently you are running the iMac via the external firewire hard
drive instead of from an internal hard drive.

I suspect what's going on is that you're experiencing heat-related
problems in one or both of your external drives that are causing
intermittent glitches. My guess is that the IDE/firewire bridge in
your firewire hard drive is the source. It may be dying. Another guess
would be that the PAV board in your iMac's getting flaky. But since
your report talks mostly about USB and firewire stuff, my first guess
is probably closer to the truth.

If you've got a working internal hard drive, try disconnecting the
external drives and see what does/doesn't happen. If your iMac then
runs OK, try switching the external drives to the other firewire port,
and booting from one connected at a time. If that doesn't work, try
switching the hard drive to the CD/RW case, if it will accept hard
drives.

That's the best I can do, based on the information you provided.

HTH,

Jim

Bob,

Also try disconnecting the USB tablet and the USB camera and see what happens. If it were mine, I'd disconnect all the external devices, then connect them one by one until the problem unit surfaces.

Jim
