I've done video chat between iChat AV on my iBook, and AIM on my wife's Windows XP PC, so it is possible. I don't think there was anything special I had to do to get this chat working. This was back in February, so it's entirely possible that config changes at AOL since then may prevent this now, for all I know. As always, YRMV.
