You can run linux on just about any Mac, certainly any modern Mac. Old World machines start to get iffy with various bits of hardware support, but I'm pretty sure you can still run freebsd on a SE-30. The main question is ....why would you WANT to? Virtually any Linux app you want can be run in OS X, if it's not been ported directly.
