Thanks, I went through your step-by-step and couldn't access.  I did  
notice though that the router's red light was flashing which I  
presumed indicated a network or operational error, but I find that it  
also indicates  startup diagnosis and update.  Gulp, guess I didn't  
learn any patience after all. I'll reconnect the hardware and try your  
advice again
