What app are you using the play the videos, and what codecs are involved?

What type of internet connection do you have, and what speed is it?

Software possibilities aside, in general, 256 MB is the rock bottom 
minimum required by older versions of OS X.  Upgrading your memory 
might be a good plan, and will certainly help with performance.
