What OS? Fully updated? Have you run any maintenance tasks?

Those are the possible bottlenecks, any of which could be the cause.

1. Fully update your machine's software.
2. Run the 3 standard maintenance scripts (daily, weekly, monthly) using OnyX.
3. Clear and rebuild your system's caches. Do this from OnyX or by
booting into Safe Mode (shift key held down), then rebooting normally.
4. Clear your browser's caches.

If the above doesn't fix the problem, then try connecting to the 'net
wired (not wi-fi).

If that doesn't fix the problem, then we'll have to start looking at
things beyond your LAN - the cable company, etc, to see if there's a
lag there.
