"Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment", is an extremely faster,
performing and energy saving desktop environment. It is maintained by
an international community of developers and comes with a beautiful
interface, multi-language support, standard keyboard short cuts and
additional features like tabbed file browsing. LXDE uses less CPU and
less RAM. It is especially designed for cloud computers with low
hardware specifications like netbooks, mobile devices (e.g. MIDs) or
older computers. LXDE can be installed with distributions like Ubuntu
or Debian. It provides a fast desktop experience connecting easily
with applications in the cloud. LXDE supports a wealth of programs,
that can be installed with Linux systems locally. The source code of
LXDE is licensed partly under the terms of the General Public License
and partly under the LGPL.

Have several tray-loading and slot-loading (for CD's) iMacs ranging
from Classic 233MHz up to DV 400MHz. For the lowest speed iMacs, wish
to replace the Debian GNU/Linux PowerPC OS having the XFCE desktop --
sample Debian PowerPC OS iso-download mirror at
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/release/4.0_r6/powerpc/iso-cd/ --
for Debian PowerPC OS with
with the lighter-weight LXDE.
Sure, there is a recent Debian testing/lenny daily build LXDE netstall
iso for multiple architectures -- such as the desired PowerPC/G3 arch
-- at
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/multi-arch/iso-cd/

Just keenly wondering whether any of any of you IT folks reading this
have had recent experience with LXDE for G3 iMacs here or know others
who have ??

TY for replies and/or other, better, reference links.
Cheers!
