This isn't really a problem; I was just curious.

Right now, I'm sitting in front of two iMac G3's. One is a 400MHz
Indigo, the other a 400MHz Graphite. I realize that just because they
are both 400MHz doesn't necessarily mean that they were produced
during the same production run. Looking at the iMac G3 Wikipedia
page, it shows that there was some overlapping of the processor speeds
from one production run to another. The best that I can tell (from
stickers on the bottoms of the machines) the Indigo was made in 2000
(that would make it a Summer 2000 machine -- they didn't make the
Indigo prior to that) and the Graphite was manufactured in 1999.

Here's the question part... When the iMacs are powered on, why are the
power buttons different colors? The Graphite has a green light when
powered on and the Indigo has a white light. Furthermore, when the
Graphite sleeps, it 'winks' with an orange light, while the Indigo
continues to 'wink' with a white light. Were there other changes to
the power button throughout product? Why the change in the first
place? Personally, I prefer the white anyway, so the change was for
the good. :)

But wait!! There's more!! I also noticed that the cover for the VGA
port is different. On the Indigo, the VGA port is accessible because
there's a whole in the little 'access door'. On the Graphite, you
have to remove (or at least open) this door to gain access to the VGA
port.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to notice this, but it just struck
me as odd and I had to throw this out there. Maybe someone has some
insight into this.

Lonnie.
