Hi, everyone! Its been years since I've worked on the old Tray
Loading iMac's.
My son has a 233 iMac that recently wouldn't start up.
Today I tried it after it had been unpluged for a week or two, It came
on but then shut off after a few seconds. I found if I unplugged it
for 10 minutes or so I could get it to repeat this sequence.
I eventually figured out that it was when the monitor kicked in that
it would power off. By disconnecting the Mac monitor cable from the MB
I could get it to stay on, I then connected a VGA monitor and it
worked fine with that.

Its been so long I'm not sure what goes bad on these models.
I am guessing its one of two things...
Either the power-supply suddenly cant handle the full load and shuts
off when the monitor clicks in.
OR more likely the monitor went bad and causes it to short and powers
off.

Any idea what the problem is from these symptoms?

If it is the monitor, I think I'll take the guts and build a G3 Mac
Mini and use an external monitor, but don't want to go through the
work if its the PS or something else that I would be reusing.

Thanks
