I bought a tray-loading imac g3 from local craigslist seller to set up for my kids. I reinstalled OS 9, and loaded some kids games. The computer worked beautifully. But after moving the computer a very short distance, it just up and died. I picked it up by the top handle and moved it to another room, set it down and plugged it back in. No light on the power button (keyboard or cpu), no sound, no nothing. What might have happened? Using the top handle of course means that as I picked the cpu up the screen side tipped downwards, but I can't imagine there would be enough of a whiplash effect to have caused anything to disconnect internally. Or perhaps I wasn't properly grounded when I picked it up? But the case was fully intact and the computer was unplugged before I picked it up. I think I may have balance the cpu against my body at some point in the move. Could static from my sweater travel through the crt and short something internal? I am stumped.
Any ideas?
