Well, this wouldn't be a problem if I had my OS9 install CD, but
unfortunately most of our stuff is still in storage. So anyways, it's
a Lime iMac G3 DV, and it's supposedly running OS 9.2.2. However upon
booting, it gets to the Welcome to Mac OS splash screen, then an alert
says something like, "the file Mac OS Rom on this hard drive is too
old to run this version of Mac OS 9.0.20" (It should actually be
9.2.2) I would just install 10.4, but there are a couple of problems,
1. It has no DVD drive 2. It crashed the installer on a PowerBook
while in Target Disk Mode. And also, I'm pretty sure I'll need to
update the firmware before I can install OSX, or else the video may
get killed (We accidentally did this on a Blueberry 333Mhz, which had
no VGA out, so basically the motherboard was permanently shot :P).
Is it possible to have someone with another iMac running 9.2.2 to
email that file (The Mac OS ROM file) and drop it into the system?
Would that work? It's the ROM version 8.7, by the way. Oh, and one
more thing, it has a Previous System Folder that's 9.0, so I switched
names and made that the boot file (I think? How does one go about
"blessing" an OS9 system file?) and it said the same thing. That
system has the Mac OS ROM file 9.0.something.
