I concur. It is completely impossible to run OS9 on a Core 2 Duo processor. I 
believe the early G4 iMacs were the last ones to be able to run OS9 natively. 
You have three options: 1. If your iMac came with 10.4, you can run your apps 
in Classic. If not, you'll have to either: 2. Go with an emulator as Christian 
suggested, or 3. Purchase an older iMac or PowerMac capable of running OS9
