Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED
I have been using it for sometime now, there is a higher resolution version 
too. Bit on expensive side but god quality. Thee is also an automatic feeder 
for mounted slides with it which you have to buy separately. scan time for a 
slide per minute but you can feed a batch of 50 at a time.

FWIW I've had success with the Epson Perfection 4490 Photo. It isn't 
too expensive, does a nice job and is fairly speedy. The way I had it 
set up, it would scan 4 35 mm slides in about 4 minutes.
The software with it is awesome. There's a bit of a learning curve, 
but nothing out of the ordinary.
Be SURE to use a darkroom brush to clean slides/ negatives. Dust is everywhere.
