Well, this is a slot-loader, instead of a tray-loader, but I'm about 90% sure it's power supply-related, because it's not getting to the boot diagnostics. No response to the power button at all. Plus, it had never made any snapping or crackling noises, ever. So, on that, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope I'm right.
