Hi there: I want to put a small partition on the hard drive, which currently does not have one, so I can boot in Tiger on the occasions I need to run something that isn't up-to-date enough for 10.6. I stuck a copy of the entire HD as it stands onto my (FireWire) backup drive, using Carbon Copy Cloner. My next steps are to reformat the main drive and then put everything back as it was. I assume that I need to boot from either the backup drive or the install disc in order to do the reformat and partition, but at that point is it better to reinstall from the install disc or copy the backup back onto the main HD? Logically I can't see how to install from the install disc and still be able to get all the settings where they were, since the drive I'm altering will be empty and won't have anything for the installation to archive-and-install...but maybe putting the cloned copy back on the main drive does something funky that I don't know about?
As always, my thanks in advance! *************** Bill Spencer in Maryland IMac Core Duo 2.4 ghz/1 g RAM/Snow Leopard IMac Core Duo 1.83 ghz/1 g RAM/Snow Leopard -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs.
