Do you still have the iBook that these disks are for?
Does the iMac have firewire?
If yes to both,  try this:
Boot the iMac into Target-Disk mode (Not sure what the key combo is,
because my FireWire board is in transiet right now) and plug it into
your iBook.
Load up the Disk Utility from your iBook's native OS (Or from the install disk)
Run the Repair disk test first, and see if that does anything.
