Crayon pooper? Whazzat?
I have a workhorse old LaserWriter 12/640 PS that I use for most
monochrome printing precisely because of the cost per page. My color
printing needs are pretty small so I don't feel a huge push to move to
color laser printing anytime soon, especially with a son about to
start college. (Holy mackerel, but that's a pricey endeavor nowadays.)
Solid/wax ink printer. I call 'em crayon poopers 'cause the ink
smells like crayons when melted. The previous generation of printers
- wow, the ink forumla was amazing. It made the room smell like you
had a group of kids coloring with Crayolas! The new generation of
inks - the smell is not as good, but then again, they use less ink
etc.
Probably way more than you need currently, if your volume is that
low. But who knows - they're quite inexpensive on the refirb market.
Next time you decide to get a new printer, they may be something to
consider.
Here are some:

This pdf is interesting - it's a comparison showing per page costs.
