Give us some time to respond, before racing off and doing things you half
understand.

First. the appearance of a strange device on your network after attaching an
unknown, unset-up, used wifi router is not unusual...this means that either
some enterprising neighbor has already discovered your free wifi and is
connected, or this device is being remembered by the Airport base station.

Azip_vaio is the name of something associated with the base station, and all it
is is a name. Read the instructions for resetting and setting up your ABS.

Deleting the preference pane is like deleting Word when you have a typo in a
document. The preference pane is just the too used to modify and set the
network preferences, which are in a separate file entirely, and, moreover,
wouldn't affect what your network sees, ANYWAY.

That can be replaced from your original installer disks via Pacifist, or do an
Archive&Install of the OS.

Connecting the iMac and the G4 can be done with the aid of the ABS; simply
connect the local ethernet port to the G4 and connect the iMac via the wifi.

Or more simply, just connect the two with an ethernet cable. Both systems have
autosensing ethernet ports and will connect directly without needing a
crossover cable.
