I have to admit that I'm surprised iTunes supports .mkv. My experience with Matroska (sp?) in the past has made me very skittish of it and I avoid it all costs.

I'm not to keen on FrontRow, iTunes, or QuickTime to play movies, and
use VLC instead.

I know VLC is pretty popular but I've not noticed any stand out features in it. Since you prefer VLC, I'm curious - what makes it a better player for you?
