Not sure about OS 9, but I had a similar experience with OS X 10.2. I used to
have a lime 400MHz iMac G3, which I installed Jaguar on. The first time I used
iChat, I noticed that the text balloon color had been set to lime without my
having set it as such. Similarly, when I installed OS X 10.3 on a Yikes!
PowerMac G4, I noticed that the iChat text balloon color had set itself to
'graphite' when I first tried it. Not sure whether it's a coincidence or not.
