Hi all, This is so very specific that I have not run across this error, so I am throwing a few things at the computer. A potential solution that is quick and dirty is to reinstall the Leopard. ... BEFORE you reinstall, make sure the hard drives are OK and that the file system is correct. You may end up reinstalling the OS - but you should not lose anything not already lost. However, it may be critical to establish the healthiness of the hard drive(s) before you do this. Check the SMART data on the disk using the disk app. The Smart tests should show you something, but if not, check the man page for fsck in the terminal. You will want to reboot into the command line mode before executing fsck if you want this command to correct any file system problems. Run fsck being careful to heed any warnings the man page or
OTHERWISE, Some simple physical things to do If it is very dry where you live or if you are in a dry spell, static electrical charges may have accumulated in your computer. To test this, unplug all the connections and leave the computer sit overnight. then in the morning, plug the power cord back into the computer first, then just the video, keyboard and mouse. Test to see if that fixed it. If the keyboard and mouse are lacking in function, check the mouse settings and keyboard settings of course. Try using the keyboard to drag and drop. Also, run a memory test. AFAIK, there is no cool way to diagnose this problem except maybe by running TechTool, of which a gratis version should be installed on your system with the OS - otherwise it may be on one of the install disks if you have those. However, there is not guarantee that TechTool will run properly. Other simple things to check are the external and internal connectors (USB, hard drives, etc.) and the proper seating of the memory modules and disk drive cables. If you have a bunch of USB cables unplug all but the keyboard and mouse. I have had USB problems with my G5 Powermac.
