Hello, I just uploaded a fix for the "Open Recent" bug. You can get it with "Help > Update...". You can turn off the SCIFIO option under "Edit > Options > ImageJ2" as well.
Stefan - I was able to confirm that the "open" command in an ImageJ macro does not work with SCIFIO turned on. Thank you for letting us know!
