Yes, I've seen precisely this with Mozilla from one of the rc's up
to and including my present 1.1. And even worse is that sometimes
images change from one to another when this begins. Very annoying
and surprising.

I solved my problem by clearing both browser disk and memory cache
although I think it was more memory cache that was at fault. But I
cleared both just to make sure. Was driving me nuts before I found
out.
I toyed with submitting to bugzilla but based on a previous effort
honestly I am neither sufficiently intelligent nor endowed with
sufficient time to figure out the categories.
But surely someone has notified the mozilla developers.
