Since it does not appear to be DNS you should isolate network/IMAIL
problems.  Can you telnet to port 25 of destination address from your IMAIL
server?  If yes you have IMAIL troubles, If no you have Network troubles.  I
do not mean to oversimplify as you may have already tried this, but I always
believe in cutting things in half until I find the problem.
