I had at one time thought of doing this.... vaguely remember thinking
bpclient was expecting something from the modem that direct connection
couldn't give...
If you could find out what it needed you could probably strap those signals.
Of course the terminal could be looking for something also.

Not much help I know, but maybe a direction to look.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Direct Serial Connection using email to pager

Hi guys,

        Just wondering if anyone out there has a dedicated serial connection (no
modem involved)to a paging terminal successfully. I've got the connection
going using only the send, receive, and ground wires. I've crossed over the
send and receive - but I'm not using the CTS/RTS wires at all. I can open
up a hyperterminal session directly to the port and manually send a
successful page, but I can't get email to pager to function right.
        I've set the SMTP service to interact with the desktop, and this allows me
to view the pager/beeper server - here's what I get:

Init="ATE0Q0V1X4"
Phone="NULL"
Pwd=""
szID="2336552"
szMsg="System Administrator: test msg "
nAlphaPort=1
nAlphaBaud=1
nAlphaProtocol=1
(sGNI.dwFlags & 8)=0
Sending message to 2336552 via NULL on COM1
open error 5
12582924 thread exiting to retry

Any ideas?
