I've also experienced this but with one difference.  The only time that I 
see the IMAP slow down in Eudora is when I'm accessing messages stored in 
main.mbx on the server.  When I access spambox.mbx or virus.mbx (I only use 
IMAP to access my abuse account) I see no noticeable delay.  If the headers 
for main.mbx trigger one of the filters that I have in Eudora, the delay 
can be as much as 5 seconds per header; in this case it's hard to say 
whether Imail or Eudora is the bottle neck.  Thankfully, there's very 
little traffic to that account!
