When using SQL server as the external user DB, I have noticed that
sometimes POP3 will fail to authenticate anyone after restarting,
particularly if it happens during a busy time. Stopping POP3 and
restarting gets around the problem.

It seems to be related to the POP3 service starting before SQL server
is available. When this happens, the ODBCuser DLL never retries the DB
connection. This can also happen when restarting the SQL service.

So this is a note to check the POP3 service after rebooting or
restarting the SQL server. I have given the details to Ipswitch tech
support.
