That wouldn't matter. As long as the hosts file tells IMail to accept it,
it does. The only difference being that, as secondary preference, an
attempt is made to send to the primary MX first. Thus, if the other server
happens to be online, it receives the mail directly without IMail touching
it. With IMail set at the primary MX record, it must deal with every piece
whether the end recipient mail server is online or not.
