AOL 4.0 installs the same adapter Dusty  ;-)  If you remove it....AOL puts
it back when you start it up the next time(if I remember correctly).

I have learned this last week that AOL Version 5 software installs
an additional adapter called AOL Dial Up Adapter in network
properties.  Removing this allows Dial Up Network users to
use Web Messaging but they can not dial AOL without it.

Since this is a new creature in AOL's software I would say that
some sort of setting in this is causing the problem.
