Our inbound email doesn't seem to be working
so I created an account on Yahoo this morning
so I could communicate with you.
We switched over to Imail from another email
software at 10 am yesterday Oct 18th. Everyone
can send email out to the net but we are receiving
very little email in from the net. We changed our
ip address for mail.cowtown.net from 209.144.6.2
to 209.144.6.178 and I figured that it would take
24 hours or so for the DNS records to filter out
across the net. It has been 21 hours and a very
miniscule amount of email is coming in. Can anyone
see our mail server? Any advise on what we should
do? Here is the DNS entries I have setup for our
mail server:
-------------------------------------
@ IN SOA cowtown.net.
postmaster.cowtown.net. (
1999101899 ; Serial number
86400 ; Refresh Every day
3600 ; Retry 1 hour
3600000 ; Expire 42 days
604800 ; Time-To-Live 1 week
)
IN NS alpha.alphatx.com.
IN NS ns1.stl-online.net.
IN NS ns3.cowtown.net.
IN MX 10 mail.cowtown.net.
with a line following of:
mail IN A 209.144.6.178
--------------------------------------
Followed in our reverse zone file with:
178 IN PTR cowtown.net.
178 IN PTR mail.cowtown.net.
--------------------------------------
If anyone can help here I would appreciate it.
