My understanding is that it's the local user database that IMail uses, if
you choose to use the NT one. In our experience, using the NT database makes
changing passwords and lots of other stuff more painful than it needs to be,
particularly if the users are using web messaging or another operating
system besides NT. We're in the process of switching FROM the NT user list
TO an external (prob. Access) list, just so we can manage user accounts (on
two NT domains, email, and two Macintosh systems) sensibly. My $0.02....
