What version are you running?  I know there were some issues with this
in 5.04 and earlier where this broke.  It is fixed in the latest version
I think. <hope>  Had it happen here one time so I can sympathize.

On the 'moderator only' list I would suggest password protecting the
list to avoid spoofing by anyone that happens to know the moderators
e-mail address.
