Hmmm...I've kinda sorta been following this thread. One thing I haven't
been able to follow though, is the assertion that it is necessary to
write to the users.lst file, to enable subscribers to successfully
unsubscribe themselves.

A little while ago, I wrote a short(ish) ASP script that I use on a list
hosted at a site of mine. It writes only to the users.txt file, and you
can both subscribe and unsubscribe successfully.

I don't like Perl on NT...I've had some odd memory leaks which
mysteriously went away after removing Perl, but that could just be my
karma :-)

In any case, as far as I'm concerned, ASP completely outperforms Perl.
If anyone wants, I'll put the scripts back up on my FTP site. Or you can
try them out yourself at http://www.deadchicken.co.za/aspnewbie.asp
