[IMail Forum] tracking software

Hello,

I wonder if there is any software on the market, that allows me to track my
customer request.

It should work like this:

a) the customers sends a request to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
b) he gets an autoanswer back like this in the subject "automatic reply:
Tracking NO.: 00001"
c) we keep on workin then with that tracking number

Anyone knows of such a software ? What is the correct english term for such
a software ?
