Yes it does, as we recently enabled SMTP auth on Imail and have had a number of calls for Netscape users that are now getting requests for a username/pw when trying to send mail.
 
Uses the POP name.
 
Note this may be version specific also, so far all users were 4.x or above not sure about 4.0x

I can access the Imail server using MS Outlook and Outlook Express. Web
interface works fine. When I try to use Netscape's Messenger, it prompts me
for a password and will not accept it. Any ideas?
