Sree,

I assumed that you had a direct link to the Internet and I did not realize
you were using Imail in a dial-up gateway configuration. Even putting that
fact aside, have you tried directing Nav to autoscan all text files whenever
a text file is created or accessed? I'm assuming you know that you can
direct it to scan specify file types after opening Nav by going to Options |
Auto-Protect | Select (under the What to scan area). I would think that
even as text files, Nav would be able to pick up on any attachments/macros
that contained a known virus pattern. Have you found that to be wrong?

Randy

messages.

I have already done that..but the problem is that my IMAIL by itself
doesn't connect to the ISP to collect the mails. It gets it's mails from
another internal gateway software...which is installed on the machine which
is dialing to the ISP.
I am not sure whether NAV will be able to detect the IMAIL mbx files....for
they are just plain text files..it happened several times...that the virus
is there on the machine and it doen't detect unless I donwload it on my
machine and run the Antivirus.
Anyhow thankx for the suggestion....I have installed the latest Sysmantec
pack...for the Antivirus..and put it on schedule.
