Sounds like you are behind a PIX firewall with the SMTP Fixup enabled.

Hi all. We recently upgraded from
an IMail 8.15 box (Windows 2000) to an ICS Imail 8.21 box (Windows Server
2003 Web Edition) and are seeing some bizarre behavior. The HELO
message from the server is a bunch of * characters and a few random 2s and 0s.
Additionally, the server refuses to accept the AUTH command (returns a 502)
regardless of "Disable SMTP Auth" setting. I was, however, able
to get AUTH to work by using the "Extra
Port"
mumbo jumbo, but that is not a real solution. Tried uninstalling
8.21 and reinstalling 8.20 with the same result. This is a brand new Dell
server with no prior Imail install. I spent over 2 hours scouring the
archive to no avail... Any thoughts? |
