The registry key is mainly for the admin templates and you really shouldn't need to make multiple copies of those. For the web client, you should be able to make as many copies for different domains as you like, but we have not yet fully tested this capability. No, the new web client is not compatible with the old templates.

Tripp:

How will this handle multiple mail domains on the same server?

What about Web Templates - will it be compatible with those(I doubt it)?

By default the iclient and iadmin virtual directories will be set up under
the default web site. There are ways to configure IIS to look at the host
headers to figure out where to go. If you move the iadmin and iclient
directories or rename them you will have to make a registry change so the
templates will know where they are installed in order to work correctly.

If my IIS server is hosting multiple domains, is there a specific on that
the webmail must be set up under or can it be in any domain on that machine.

We host say 30 website domains on our IIS server as well as their respective
Mail domain in Imail on the same server. Can the webmail service now be put
in anyone or all of these domains?

Currently if you use anyone of the domain names with the the port 8383 you
will get to our webmail server logon page, because it is the only thing
running on that port but if you user the standard port 80 then IIS looks at
host headers to determine what site to go too.

This is not a proprietary web server anymore for web messaging so there is
nothing to conflict with. The web client runs under IIS just like any other
site runs under IIS. The install will configure two virtual directories
under IIS: Iadmin and Iclient.

So, if we are running port 80, and also running web sites on port 80 in IIS,

isn't that going to be a conflict?

| It runs under IIS, so what ever port you tell IIS to use is the active
| port.

| I assume that it will now run on port 80. Is that correct?

|
| Yes, the new Web Messaging will be part of the basic IMail server.
The
| new
| web client is written in ASP.NET and runs under the .NET framework in
| IIS. The web Administrator is in ASP and runs under IIS as well.
|
| Does that help?

| Tripp:
|
| In response to someone else's message, web messaging will still be
part
| of
| the basic Imail Server for those not using ICS, right? (Or did I miss
| that
| notice?)
|
| Also, will it be on a (more) generic web server or still on the Imail
| proprietary web server?
|
| Lastly, can you tell us the basic language (Java, C, ???) for the web
| messaging system?
|
| Thanks,
| John
